Brian Griffin


Brian Griffin is a conductor, string pedagogue, and violinist.  He has dedicated his career to string education and orchestral development.  As Director of Orchestras at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, he has developed an exemplary orchestra program consisting of four orchestras.  The program has earned recognition through performing at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago and the Florida MEA Clinic-Conference.  The DA Orchestras also contributed to the DA Music Department’s GRAMMY National Signature School designation in 2010, 2012, and 2016.  He has also taught strings in the Spartanburg (SC) District 7 Orchestra Program and at Landon Middle School.

Mr. Griffin earned the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Alabama, where he studied violin with Patrick Rafferty.  He also studied violin with Rachel Huang, Paul Statsky, and Jerrie Lucktenberg.  He has served as a clinician, adjudicator, and session presenter for the Florida Orchestra Association.  In addition, he has been a guest conductor for the Western Kentucky University Orchestra Invitational.    

Mr. Griffin has served on the Executive Board for the Florida Orchestra Association as an All-State Orchestra Coordinator and on the Florida Performing Arts Assessment Task Force.  He is currently serving as the Ethics Chair for FOA.  His professional affiliations include NAfME, ASTA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. 

Mr. Griffin enjoys spending time with his wife Carol, Orchestra Director at LaVilla, and their two boys, Max and Jacob.  He also likes to water ski and watch Alabama football.
